Front Range Dirt

Welcome to Golden Endurance's magazine on running related issues along the Front Range. This magazine is intended to connect the local front range running community on a grassroots level. In this vein, we hope to bring in local contributors for a quarterly issues. Issues will highlight new trail development, local runners, local races, photo essays, and local community groups. This magazine will not get off the ground unless there is a groundswell of support. That being said, if you would like to contribute, either in writing or in dollars, please see below.

Front Range DIRT Community Submissions

A goal of Front Range DIRT is to showcase, represent, and connect the Front Range running community. This means hearing directly from you! We welcome all submissions on a wide variety of topics in running. This might include a unique and compelling race report, an interesting spotlight on a Front Range route, trail, race, or community, or a thoughtful exploration of an aspect of running. These are just a few examples, so please feel free to use your creativity! Our goal is to include several editorial submissions per issue.

General Guidelines:

  • Each submission will be reviewed by our editorial team for consideration.

  • Please do not share articles that have already been published elsewhere.

  • Photos should be high resolution. Please only submit your own photos or photos for which you have the photographer’s permission to share. Include photo credits where necessary.

  • While a standard race report can be interesting, aim to include compelling aspects of routes, races, or trails.

  • We aim to publish an article for each season of the year: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Where possible, we encourage you to submit articles that tie to the upcoming season in some way.

  • Microsoft Word or Google Doc files are preferred.

Editorial Guidelines:

  • Article Length: Keep articles to a maximum of 500–700 words. Shorter articles are welcome too! Longer articles will be considered on special request.

  • Clear and Concise Language: Avoid overly complex or long sentences. Write in complete sentences.

  • Consistent Verb Tense: Stick to consistent verb tenses throughout the submission.

  • Use Active Voice: Prefer active voice over passive voice.

  • Punctuation Precision: Ensure punctuation marks are used correctly to clarify meaning.

  • Avoid Redundancy: Eliminate repetitive words and phrases.

  • Numerals vs. Words: Use numerals for numbers 10 and above, and spell out numbers 9 and below.

  • Avoid Slang and Jargon: Use clear, widely understood language unless specific terms are explained. Be careful about using running-specific acronyms (e.g., DNF, PR, etc.).

  • Proofread for Spelling and Typos: Carefully proofread. Use spell check!

  • Italics: Use italics for titles of books, songs, shows, movies, etc.
